Question: What classes should I be taking in high school to better prepare for enrolling in a program in Forestry and Natural Resources at WVU?

Students in the Division of Forestry and Natural Resources should be well prepared in mathematics, science and communications.  If your high school offers advanced placement or college release programs at a local college or junior college, qualified students should consider taking freshman English, college-level math, and biology.  To determine if you qualify for Advanced Placement Credit, please refer to http://adm.wvu.edu/resources/281/1255114393.pdf.  Please contact the WVU Office of Admissions if you have specific questions or to determine if credits earned at other institutions qualify: 304.293.6871 or 800.344.WVU1 (9881) or WVUAdmissions@mail.wvu.edu.

As the result of a special agreement (http://apply.wvu.edu/costs/reducedtuition/ohio.aspx), students from Ohio who are fully admitted to certain undergraduate majors can enroll at WVU and pay in-state tuition rates. Students must be admitted to both the University and the particular major. These programs include:

  • Wildlife & Fisheries Resources
  • Wood Science & Technology

Question: If I am transferring from another institution, what courses count toward my degree at WVU?

A general description of the transfer process is provided on line at http://apply.wvu.edu/admissions/transfer/credits.aspx.  The Division of Forestry and Natural Resources also has “articulation agreements” that allow transfer of courses with some two-year institutions that offer programs in forestry, recreation, wildlife and fisheries, and wood science.  Please contact the Division for details – 304-293-4412 or 866-248-1206 or forestry@mail.wvu.edu.
